How to Repair or Replace a Rotten Window Frame

shadow

Very often, older homes will get new windows, but when the wall finish is stucco, it is very difficult to add a flashing above it. Caulking is usually installed and is a good material but does last forever and will leak if not updated. Our moto is that if we miss it, we will fix it, and this is one of those times. We missed the rot around the window on this house during a home inspection and fixed it.

In this video, we will show you how to remove a window, repair the wood frame if needed and install either a new or the old window back in place. We also refinished the drywall on the inside. You will see that this is something you can do yourself. You would need two different trades for this job and would probably cost over one thousand to repair. While owning a house, many of these issues will arise and taking the time to learn to do it yourself will save you a lot of money in the long run.
